I thought I was coming to Germany for love, but obviously I’m here to sing the blues.
Raised around cameras and spotlights, as the daughter of a professional musician and musical director, performing art has been my lifeblood since I was born. I am passionate about music, constantly singing from the time I could talk, eager to entertain, fearless on stage. I was already singing solos at church by the age of 4, and entered the world of showbusiness in early childhood when cast in Romper Room, a local children’s television program.
I later received top-notch musical training at leading institutions, such as Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas. As a teen, I was accepted to the American Conservatory in Fontainebleau through the sponsorship of my mentor and greatest supporter, Mexican American composer and professor, Dr. Robert Xavier Rodriguez. I’ll be forever thankful to him for making this lifechanging experience possible.
Love made me leave my native Texas and find my new home in Bavaria, where I now live with my two sons. I learned to speak the language, became familiar with local customs,dress. – and most importantly, found my way back to music with wonderful friends and colleagues in the Großhöhenrainer Blaskapelle, where I play 1st horn.
All my life I have sung, in all kinds of venues – from blues bars, to country clubs, to upscale lounges, with bands of every genre, from grunge rock to jazz standards. Versatility has been a hallmark of my career. I sing in English, French and German. I love changing styles, and I love to surprise people by changing from the “lady in red” lounge lady to casual rock/Americana, to the Dirndl-style of Bavarian Volksmusik. As my story unfolds, once again the time has come to choose a direction…and right now, the blues feels just right.
